Oxnard Women's Soccer Scores First WSC Win

The Oxnard College women's soccer team secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Allan Hancock College on Tuesday afternoon. The win boosts Oxnard's record to 3-3-3 overall and 1-1-0 in WSC play.

The scoring opened in the 24th minute when Brianna Rodriguez found the back of the net with an unassisted goal, giving Oxnard an early lead of 1-0. The momentum continued into the second half, where Anahi Nieto extended the advantage to 2-0 with a goal assisted by Jakeline Novela-Martinez at the 55:12 mark.

Allan Hancock rallied late in the game, with Liliana Jones scoring in the final moments to narrow the gap to 2-1. Despite their efforts, Oxnard's defense held strong, ensuring the win.

Oxnard was dominated in shots on goal, registering 7 shots with 5 on target compared to Allan Hancock's 16 total shots and 10 on goal. Goalkeeper Hannah Christopherson played a pivotal role, making 9 saves and helping to secure the victory.

"We showed great resilience today," said Oxnard head coach, Emily Perez. "The team executed our game plan effectively, and we were able to capitalize on key opportunities. I'm proud of our players for their hard work and determination."

The Oxnard College women's soccer team looks to build on this victory as they prepare for their next WSC match on Friday when they host cross-county rivals, Moorpark College from 4:00 in the Nest.
