The Oxnard College Women's Soccer team secured their second straight victory in a commanding 5-1 win over Glendale College, avenging their earlier season loss to the same opponent. The match, held in The Nest, saw a standout performance from forward Brenda Marin and several other key players.
Oxnard wasted no time taking control of the game, with Anahi Nieto opening the scoring in the 20th minute, assisted by Jennifer Rojas. Rojas added a goal of her own five minutes later, with an assist from Karla Alatorre. By the 28th minute, Jakeline Novela-Martinez extended the lead with an unassisted goal, giving Oxnard a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Glendale responded in the second half with a goal from Ainsley Stephenson in the 60th minute, but it was not enough to turn the tide. Oxnard answered quickly with Nieto netting her second goal, assisted by Novela-Martinez, in the 66th minute. The final goal of the match came from standout Brenda Marin in the 71st minute, also assisted by Novela-Martinez, who had a stellar game with a goal and two assists.
Oxnard's strong defense and excellent goalkeeping kept Glendale at bay, while their offense continued to thrive throughout the game. This victory not only marks Oxnard's second in a row but also serves as sweet revenge for the 3-0 loss to Glendale earlier in the season.
"The team is starting to buy-in to the things we have been teaching in practice," said Emily Perez, Oxnard head coach. "Our teamwork was exceptional, and it's great to avenge that early loss to Glendale."
