In a triumphant close to the home slate of the season, the Oxnard College Softball team delivered a commanding 11-4 victory over Santa Barbara City College, capping off what has been a season of tremendous growth, resilience, and pride. The Nest was packed with parents and fans to celebrate Sophomore Day, honoring four standout student-athletes whose dedication helped transform the program: Jenuve Marruffo, Disney Minjarez, Julianna Lopez, and Victoria Rodriguez.
Led by a dynamic coaching trio—Bianca Noriega, Angie McCampbell, and Richard Noriega—the Condors have experienced a notable turnaround this season. Through a renewed focus on player development and team culture, the coaching staff has laid the foundation for long-term success. The players' growth has been evident both on and off the field.
"This team has heart," said Head Coach Bianca Noriega. "Every single one of our players has bought into the vision. From day one, we've asked them to trust the process—and today's performance is the result of that effort."
The Condors came out swinging, scoring 10 of their 11 runs in the first three innings. Alizabeth Rosas had a standout game, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs and a double. Amber Cervantez, who also pitched a complete game, tallied 3 hits and an RBI of her own. Savannah Saxton and Samantha Cervantes each contributed 2 RBIs, while Madison Gray added a run-scoring double to round out the offensive surge.
Oxnard totaled 14 hits in the game and showed poise on defense and the base paths, collecting three stolen bases and executing under pressure.
The pregame ceremony gave special recognition to the program's sophomores—Marruffo, Minjarez, Lopez, and Rodriguez—who have left set a standard of excellence, as great teammates, for future Condors.
The day was not just about the win—it was about celebrating progress. The Condors have turned the corner as a program, and the culture now radiates optimism.
As the regular season ends, Oxnard Softball stands tall—grateful for its sophomores, proud of its coaches, and ready for next year.
