After a tough stretch of losses, the Condors came out with purpose and pride, to take down LA Pierce, 80-61.

It was Oxnard's first Western State Conference win on the season, and only second overall.  Daniel Ortiz led the way for the Condors with 22 points, while playing the entire 40 minutes.  Theo Briscoe went 4-6 from beyond the arc, and added 15 points.  Ethan Macias had 11 points, Noha Del Rio Sanchez had 10, to go along with four steals.  Devari Davis got the start for the Condors, and chipped in with eight points, but grabbed 11 boards on the night.

"We needed that energy and effort after a few poor performances, to start conference," said assistant coach, Sampson Brue.  "We are trying to build on the win with better practices, that should translate to success in the games (coming up)."

Oxnard will host a double-header on Wednesday night against Santa Barbara City College at 5:00 pm.

The Condor Women's team was physically overmatched against Pierce, but played tough throughout the contest.  OC outplayed the Brahmas in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough as they fell 88-67.

Gizelle Carreto coninued to lead the way for OC with 21 points, seven steals, and seven rebounds.

Freshman standout, Janelle Jimenez had 12 points, with her running mate, Danielle Salazar also in double figures with 10 points. Faith Stockton chipped in eight and Andrea Berrelleza had six in the losing effort.

OC will be back in action in the second game of the double-header on Wednesday, when they also host SBCC.  First tip is scheduled for 7:00 pm.
