OC Invite Showcases Great Racing

The Oxnard College Condors proudly hosted the 2025 OC Cross Country Invitational on Friday, September 5, bringing together top community college and unattached athletes from across Southern California for a spirited day of racing on the OC campus.

Women's 5K

The women's race featured a fast start with El Camino freshman Jadeyn Skefich surging to the lead and never looking back, claiming the individual title in 18:07.7 at a 5:50 pace. She was followed by unattached runner Angeles Feliciano (18:18.4), while Mt. SAC packed in five runners among the top nine to secure the team victory.

For the host Condors, sophomore Hailey Ortiz (21:13.5) led the way with a strong 17th-place finish, supported by freshman Daniela Sanchez (21:21.4) and sophomore Marisol Mohedano (22:09.8). Freshman Valeria Reyes (23:45.3) and Yamile Baez (33:07.4) rounded out the Oxnard scoring.

Team Standings (Women's 5K):

  1. Mt. SAC – 15 pts

  2. Cerritos – 47 pts

  3. Oxnard – 83 pts

Men's 4-Mile

The men's race quickly turned into a showdown between Cerritos and Mt. SAC, with Cerritos taking the top three spots. Sophomore Joshua Morales (21:09.3) edged teammate Juan Flores (21:09.9) at the line, with Louis Santibanez close behind in third (21:23.8).

Oxnard's top finisher was sophomore Carlos Villagomez, who clocked 21:49.9 to place 12th overall, followed by Edgardo Santiago Gaytan (22:44.6), Edwin Salvador (25:05.9), Guadalupe Lopez (25:52.3), and Armando Diaz (28:54.4).

  1. Cerritos – 19 pts

  2. Mt. SAC – 40 pts

  3. El Camino – 107 pts

  4. Chaffey – 116 pts

  5. Oxnard – 119 pts

  6. Antelope Valley – 149 pts

A Strong Showcase at Home

The Invitational highlighted the depth and talent across the region while giving Oxnard's student-athletes the opportunity to compete on their home course in front of family, friends, and the Condor community.

"We're proud of how our student-athletes competed and represented Oxnard College today," said Athletic Director Jonas Crawford. "Hosting this Invitational allows us to showcase not only the quality of competition in our conference but also the strength of our athletic community here at OC."
