
Sophomore Marylynn Mendieta and freshman Edgardo Santiago Gaytan have each earned individual qualifying spots at the 2024 3C2A State Championships, set for November 23, 2024, after standout performances at the Southern California Regional Meet.
Mendieta, a Rio Mesa High School graduate, is making a return to the state meet after an impressive season that saw her lead the Oxnard College women's team. She earned WSC All-Conference Second Team honors with a personal best time of 20:19 for the 5K. As she enters her final season with the Condors, Marylynn hopes to achieve her best performance yet at Fresno's Woodward Park.
Freshman Edgardo Santiago Gaytan, a graduate of Channel Islands High School, has impressed in his first year of collegiate competition. After adjusting to the challenges of the collegiate level, he earned WSC All-Conference Second Team honors and played a pivotal role in leading the Condor men's team into the postseason. Edgardo aims to break his personal best time of 22:00 for the 4-mile course at the state championships.
Both athletes will represent Oxnard College in the prestigious 2024 3C2A State Championships as they look to cap off their seasons with personal achievements.
