The 2022 State Champs were hoping of a repeat of the nearly perfect season in 2023, but fell painfully short against Antelope Valley College on Saturday afternoon.

Quickly after the start of the game, OC's Manny Solis drew a foul in the AVC box.  Manny Yarjah came up to convert the PK to give the Condors a 1-0 advantage. AVC's Andrew Cobb scored about 10 minutes later and Chisom Ene added another goal, soon thereafter, to put the Marauders up 2-1.

Oxnard kept pressure on AVC, with Sophomore Jacobo Ortega scoring his 6th goal on the season to equalize at the 45:00 minute mark.

The game became a slugfest in the second half, with 11 yellow cards shown.  AVC had two red cards (one on the bench), but Oxnard was unable to capitalize for the final stretch in the second half.

Both teams were unable to find the net in two overtime periods, with the game going to PK's to decide the outcome.  Both teams converted the first three kicks, but AVC's goalie, Luis Avelar, made the biggest save of the season, on the fourth attempt.  The Marauders made all five PK's to advance to round 2 of 3C2A regional play.

Oxnard's stellar season (11-2-7) came to an end, but the Condors remain proud of their accomplishments.  Coach Greaney met with the team after the loss and explained that the pursuit of State Championship #3 begins tomorrow.
