The Condors return home to host the WSC Conference Preview meet for the 2023 Fall Cross Country Season.  Just three weeks after the OC Invitational, the conference meet would prove to be a much faster affair than the invitational overall.  "Our new fast course we came up with this year and the ideal weather we had today was the perfect storm for a lot of PRs", boasted Head Coach Aaron Sharp.  "It was definitely great to host conference again in our house and just glad everything ran smoothly on race day."

In the women's race, Ventura's Sophia Godina and Glendale's Samantha Medrano broke away from the field early to be locked into a duel with Sophia ultimately taking the win in an impressive 17:38 for the 5K course.  In the team standings, Glendale took first with 56 points, Allan Hancock in second with 77 points, and Oxnard placed 3rd with 103 points.  Shelly Martin led the team once again finishing in 14th place with a time of 19:54. Magy Rosales placed 20th in 20:38.  Freshmen Nathallie Ojeda and Marylynn Mendieta closely matched all season finished in 21st (21:04) and 22nd (21:08) respectively.  Maryjane Arreola stepped up for the team today to finish in 37th with a time of 23:25. Yoselin Gonzalez and Daisy were 50th and 51st.  "I thought the race went very well!  We were without our fifth girl today and MJ [Maryjane-https://www.instagram.com/p/CxybAlrAnPA/?hl=en] was able to step it up and everyone just came together.", said Coach Elsa Guerrero.

In the men's race, Cuesta's Anthony Erickson won the 4-mile race in 20:15 just ahead of Bakersfield's Nathanael Rodriguez (2nd, 20:34) and Jacob Perez (3rd 20:38).  In the team scoring, Bakersfield won with 31 points, Moorpark in 2nd with 73 points and Glendale in 3rd with 84 points.  The Condors placed 10th in the team scoring out of the 12 scoring teams.  Reyes Gonzales led the men's squad, finishing in 46th place with a time of 23:18. Francisco Perez placed 63rd with a time of 23:56.  Tomas Guerra finished in 88th place with a time of 27:25.  Jesus Rodriguez was in 101st with a time of 30:08.  Luis Alcalde and Armando Cabeza were 106th (34:38) and 107th (38:17) respectively.  "I'm proud of what our men's team are doing so far and we will continue to improve as we come into conference finals with full force.", said Coach Sharp.

The Condors will race next at the Mt. SAC Invitational on October 13th before heading into Conference Championships the week after hosted by L.A. Mission at Pierce College.
