Condors Take Down LA Pierce for WSC Win

Malaykah Lumas
Malaykah Lumas

The Condors finally got an elusive Western State Conference win last night by defeating the LA Pierce Brahmas, 63-49.

Malaykah Lumas was tremendous for OC, scoring 32 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and making all of her free-throws.  Lumas, who prepped at St. Bonaventure HS got help from teammates Estel Miranda and Dennise Dominguez.  Miranda had 14 points and six boards, while Dominguez chipped in 11 and five, respectively.

Oxnard has been close all year, losing by small margins, and overcoming slow starts.  They dominted the first half by taking a 41-25 lead at halftime.  The Condors rebounded the ball well against the Brahmas, with all six players helbing on the boards.

OC will host Pierce again on Wednesday in the annual Coaches vs. Cancer fundraiser game.  All procedes will be donated to the American Cancer Society to help the ACS fund ground-breaking research and provide life-saving (and life-changing) programs and hope to those who need it the most.
