Special Sophomores Celebrate with Win

Sophomore Day was perfect in the Nest on Tuesday afternoon.  

Before the game, Oxnard College proudly announced the recognition of six outstanding sophomore athletes for their remarkable accomplishments, both on and off the softball diamond.  As part of a time-honored tradition, the college community dame together to celbrate the achievements of the special players who played their final game for OC.

Ariana Maldonado plans to transfer to CSU Long Beach in the fall.  She plans to come back and work at OC, again.  Alexis Vallejo will get her AA in Business and transfer to a CSU and would like to continue playing softball. Carmen Gonzalez wi majoring in Biology and is currently choosing between several UC's.  She plans to get her medical assistant license and to get hours for PA school.  Cynthia Vallejo is majoring in General Science and plans to transfer to a CSU and get her Bachelors in Nursing.  Marisa Perez is a Psychology major and plans to go to CSUCI, and eventually become an entrepreneur.  Juliann Herrera is a Nursing major and plans on transferring to Grand Canyon University or SDSU.

The Condors then took the field and took a 2-0 lead in the second inning.  They held a 2-1 lead all the way until the top of the ninth inning, and with the bases loaded and two outs, right fielder, Disney Minjarez made a special catch to clinch the win for OC.

Oxnard College Athletics would like to thank the Condor fans, parents, coaches, staff, and especially the players for putting OC Softball back on the diamond.  This season was a huge success becasue of the support.  We urge everybody involved to continue to push to make OC Softball a premier program in southern California.
