The Condors Break Out the Bats against VC

The Condors offense broke out of a slump to thwart Ventura College's playoff run.  OC prevailed 11-9 at VC on Friday, 11-9.  OC pounded out 14 hits, and took advantage of five Pirate miscues.

Danny Lucero went 3-5, with two RBI's, as did Tommy EnglishJacob Martinez, Christopher Rodriguez, and Reon Iwase all collected two hits each.

Pitcher, Luis Luhrs, picked up his fourth win on the season, going five innings and striking out seven Pirates along the way.  Frank Tinoco picked up his second save, going three innings, giving up four hits.

Oxnard came back from a two-run deficit in the third inning with five runs.  Lucero doubled, driving in Aaron Alvarado.  Martinez singled in Lucero to tie the score at 2-2.  Rodriguez singled in two more runs, with Eric Rodriguez collecting an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

OC scored two more runs in the fifth inning, and collected three more in the seventh.

"I was happy for our team today as we showed some resilience and what we can do.  It's been a struggle lately, but always good to get a win at VC," said head coach Steve Hernandez.

OC will be on the road again on Saturday to take on the Alan Hancock Bulldogs at 1:00.
