Condors Celebrate Sophomore to Close Out Season

The Condor Baseball Team closed out the 2022-23 season with a tough 4-3 loss to Cuesta on Saturday.

All year long, OC was one play away from winning many games, but just fell short.

Luis Luhrs was the hard-luck losing pitcher, but had a quality start, going six innings, giving up only five hits, while striking out five Cougars. The Condor bullpen (Marcus Chavez, Cisco Montes, and Andrew Leff) didn't allow any earned runs over the final three innings.

Danny Lucero had two hits to lead the way for Oxnard, but OC left too many men on base to overcome the one-run deficit.

The sophomores who were recognized were:

Thade Miller, from Rio Mesa High School. He will go into nursing after he graduates. Anthony Alvarez, from Camarillo HS. Anthony is interested in going into business after graduation. Johnny Alvarez is the Condor DH and attended St. Bonaventure HS., and would like to transfer to Arizona, Sac. State, or Boston College and then go into business or finance. Landon Raskin is an outfielder and prepped at Newbury Park HS., and he would like to transfer to NC State or Utah Valley and go on to a career in business or real estate. Derek Mendoza is a pitcher from Ojai Valley HS., and hopes to transfer to Menlo College and eventually become a writer. Marcus Chavez- Marcus is a catcher and pitcher from Santa Paula HS., and plans to use baseball as a vehicle to promote himself at the four-year level.

We would like to thank all of the Condors who chose to play at OC.  We look forward to the great things that they will do for our community in the future.
