Elsa Guerrero, an Oxnard native, graduated from Hueneme High School in 1997.  She went to Ventura College to receive her Associate's Degree and then transferred to Cal State Stanislaus to graduate with her Bachelor's Degree in Child Development in 2005.  She is currently working on her Master's Degree in Coaching & Exercise Sciences at Concordia University in Irvine, CA.

Coach Guerrero was initially a walk-on athlete after transferring from VC to Stanislaus, but improved significantly to eventually receive an athletic scholarship to compete for the Warriors.  She was a contributing member to their Cross Country team and a 5K/10K specialist for Track.  Her personal bests were 19:05 in the 5,000m and 40:00 in the 10,000m.

Starting in 2000, Elsa became involved with Oxnard College during her collegiate career and has worked as a volunteer for the Cross Country programs for a number of years, until being named as the Assistant Coach starting this Fall Season.

Her overall coaching philosophy is to facilitate a learning environment within the program that will help empower all individual student-athletes by stimulating their intellect, fostering leadership and promoting personal growth.  The culture of the program is to encourage athletes to be resilient in their efforts and to learn how to achieve success through victory as well as failure.
