Condors Score 9 in Defeat of SMCC

Oxnard College Softball won their first Western State Conference matchup against Santa Monica College, 9-1 on Thursday afternoon.

Marissa Torres (pic) started off hot, and stayed that way, going 3-4, with two runs and two RBI's.  Rylee McDaniel was the Player of the Game as she was perfect at the plate (2-2, 2B, 2 RBI's) and grabbed her first win in the circle.  McDaniel struck out two Corsairs and only allowed one run, through five innings.

Cynthia Vallejo was also perfect at the plate (3-3), and Mia Guerrero, Juliann "Chona" Herrera, Jenna Fernandez, and Alexis Vallejo all had hits for OC.  

Melea Comay had two hits for SMCC, in the loss.

OC starts a tough stretch of games at the VC Invitational on Friday and Saturday.  They are scheduled to play Glendale and Moorpark on day one, and AVC and Bakersfield on day two.  The Condors return to WSC play on Tuesday, March 29th, when they travel to Allan Hancock for a 2:30 start.
