The Condor softball team traveled out to Ridgecrest to take on the Cerro Coso Coyotes for a Saturday afternoon double-header.

In game one, the Condors pounded 16 hits and plated 12 runners, for the 12-8 victory.  The win was the first for OC, who have been close all year.  Rylee McDaniel was 2-3 with a pair of walks, Mia Guerrero was 2-5, had three hits and three RBI's, and a monster 250 foot home run.  After the game, Mia commented, "Saturday's double header was a pretty good day for us. We got the W in the first game! I believe we finally got out of our heads and were just having fun! Even in the second game, though we lost we didn't give up and kept fighting til the end."

Jenna Fernandez was 2-5, with three runs scored.  Marissa Torres was 2-4, with three runs, and Gina Sosa led the hit-parade with four knocks, including two doubles.  Cynthia Vallejo at three hits of her own, and scored a run.  Guerrero had a terrific Birthday, by going the distance as the winning pitcher, striking out six Coyotes along the way.  Tawny Ford was perfect at the plate for Cerro Coso, going 3-3, and Kyla Collins added a HR for the Coyotes.

Game Two saw the Condors jump ahead, 4-2 in the fourth inning, 8-7 after five, 11-8 after six, tied at 14-14 after seven, and the Coyotes scored the walk-off in bonus-softball, 17-16.

Sosa collected four more hits, to give her eight on the day.  McDaniel, Fernandez, Torres, Amris Rabago, Alexis Vallejo, and Juliette Marquez all had multiple hits in the second game.

McDaniel upped her team-leading HR total to four on the year.  She is also slugging a whopping 1.22, and has an On-base percentage of .571.  The Condor defense struggled slightly with four errors, accounting for six Coyote runs.

Kyla Collins was the standout for Cerro Coso, going 5-5 at the plate, with an HR.  Sara Calderas added two HR's for the Coyotes.

Coach Erin Lawley had this to say about the team.  "I'm so proud of this team for never giving up. They don't quit no matter what life or the game throws at them and it finally paid off on Saturday. Our bats came alive with 38 hits over 15 innings, including 14 extra base hits and a bomb each from the Birthday girl Mia (2) and Rylee's fourth of the season. Jenna continues to be a force behind the dish and Rylee (shortstop) and Marissa (third base) are hard to get a ball by. Props to Mia, Amris, and Rylee for staying in there and competing for every pitch in the circle. Our record doesn't show our heart but our stats are getting there so the wins will come soon. #OneTeamOneDream".
