Condors congratulate Erik Lopez on one of two goals
Condors congratulate Erik Lopez on one of two goals

Oxnard proved they are worthy of a CCCSIA number five ranking in the state.  OC defeated a very strong Pasadena squad on Friday, 2-0.

Possession was the key for the Condors as they held back the Vaqueros few counter-attacks and methodically controlled the pace.

Erik Lopez scored two goals on the day to provide OC with all the offense they needed.  A penalty kick was awarded in the 42nd minute of play, when the Vaquero reached out to trip a Condor on his way to goal.  Lopez deposited the PK in the lower left corner of the net to give Oxnard the 1-0 advantage.

On a feed by Miguel Lopez midway through the second half, Lopez fed the ball past the keeper to ice the contest.  Pasadena hat limited opportunities, dispite their athletic play and consistent defensive pressure.

Oxnard will have the ultimate test, when they travel to take on perenial powerhouse Mt. SAC on Tuesday evening.  Kickoff is slated for 7:00 in Walnut, CA.
