It has been a long off-season for Head Coach, Erin Lawley and the Oxnard College Women's Softall Team.

After going 14-19-1 last year, with a multitude of injuries and struggles, OC Softball was excited to play LA Valley on Tuesday afternoon.  "LA Valley was very good last year, and they beat us as well...We wanted to come out with a win and start the year off right," said Lawley.

The Condors did just that.  Kimberly Santoyo was 3-3 at the plate, with an RBI.  Sophomore first-baseman, Charlie Holman was 3-5 with two runs scored, three stolen bases, and an RBI.  Victoria Valadez, filling in for injured catcher Mia Aguilera, smashed a home run, scored two runs, and drove in two with the blast.

Freshman Kayla Kern pitched a complete game for her first collegiate victory.

"This was a complete team effort," remarked Coach Lawley.

Oxnard will face LA Valley again in two days at the Glendale Invitational Softball Tournament at 8:30 am.
