Freshman Angel Herrera Leads with Three Goals

The Condors are one step closer to their goal after Saturday's convincing 5-1 win over College of the Desert.

After a frustrating end to the season last year, the Oxnard Men's Soccer Team is determined to play their best soccer at the end of the season.

Angel Herrera stepped up with three goals.  The freshman from Pacifica HS said "...to score three goals feels great, but it just helps the team to get a win."

Herrera's first goal was at 10 minutes to put OC in front 1-0.  Luis Juarez, slipped a terrific goal past the keeper, on a feed from David Garcia.  The two quick strikes made the game 2-0.  COD scored their only goal at 23 minutes, by Emmanual Munoz to give the Roadrunners life halfway through the first half.  Oxnard would answer, however, on Herrera's second of the game, with an assist from Jose Olea.  Olea had his own hat trick on the afternoon, with three assists credited.

The Condors were able to get two more goals in the second half, late in the period. Olea was fouled in the box by the COD goalkeeper, and Herrera hammered home the PK.  David Garcia tallied the final goal, on a rebound by Olea, to complete the scoring.

The Condors continue their march to the Final Four, with a game at Fullerton College on Tuesday at 2:00 pm.  Oxnard will travel to the number-three ranked Hornets, champions of the Orange Empire Conference.  Round three will be on Saturday, November 30th at 2:00 pm (https://www.cccaasports.org/sports/msoc/2019-20/files/M_Soccer_SoCal_Bracket_-updated-.pdf).
