Condors Fly out of the Gate in 2019

The Condors kicked off the 2019 sports season at the home OC Invitational and produced strong early performances.

In the Women's race, freshman Angelica Alcala broke into the Top 10 and ran 20:28 for the 5K course.  Melody Salazar finished in 20th place with a time of 22:10.  Just behind was Araceli Rodriguez in 21st with a time of 22:13.  Esther Gomez placed 26th with a time of 22:52.  Laura Carmona finished in 30th place with a time of 23:37.  The sole sophomore for the Lady Condors, Fiona Rodriguez, placed 33rd with a time of 24:21, which was a slight improvement for her on the course from last season.   Mayra Munguia finished in 47th place with a time of 26:44.

In the Men's race, sophomore JD Martinez returned from the 2017 squad to open up his season placing 3rd with an early solid time of 21:39 for the 4 mile course.  Freshman Eric Rios debuted with a strong performance as well placing 6th with a time of 22:06.  Newcomer Jonathan Juarez placed 57th with a time of 29:11.  Sophomore Pedro Martin finished in 61st with a time of 33:26.

The Condor runners will compete in the VC Invitational next Friday at 3:00.
